A Heritage Statement is a specialist document which enables your local planning authority to understand the nature and extent of change to your heritage asset, and what impact that change will have on its significance.

Being a specialist document, it is vitally important that a Heritage Statement is produced by an accredited heritage professional, in a form and to standards laid down by the Government via the National Planning Policy Framework, Historic England through guidance documents and the relevant professional bodies i.e. the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.

You may need a Heritage Statement if you are looking to carry out works on a property/asset in a conservation area or that is a listed building.
